Getting Reimbursed: Insurance and Payment Options

As an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), my services may be covered under your private health insurance benefits and specialized spending accounts.

Private Health Insurance

Contact your provider (e.g., Manulife, Great-West Life/Canada Life, Sun Life) to confirm coverage. Ask: "Does my plan cover services provided by a Lactation Consultant or an IBCLC?" Coverage varies, but many comprehensive plans do include it.

Health Spending Accounts (HSA) & Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA):

IBCLC services are generally considered qualified medical expenses under the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) guidelines and can typically be paid for or reimbursed using your HSA or FSA funds.

Claim Your Receipt

I will provide a professional, detailed receipt, including my IBCLC provider number, immediately after payment. This is the necessary document for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
